Privacy Policy

WingMarq shows the right guide automatically when someone opens a tool. The extension decides from the page URL alone — it does not read page content, form data, or user inputs. Protecting user privacy is a core part of the product design.

Data we collect

The extension checks the page URL against your workspace’s Marqs on your device. It does not read document content or transmit user files.

• • Workspace configuration: the Marqs your administrators create (URL patterns, labels, guide titles and links)
• • Marq events sent by the extension when a prompt is shown, opened or dismissed: the event type, which Marq, the site’s address (for example https://app.example.com/ — not the full page URL), the time and the extension version. No name, email or user ID is sent.
• • Dashboard accounts: the email address and name used to sign in to app.wingmarq.com
• • Messages you send through the contact form: name, email and message

Stored on your device by the extension

• • Your workspace key, in the browser’s extension sync storage (synced to other browsers where you are signed in to the same browser profile)
• • A cached copy of your workspace’s Marqs
• • Which prompts you have dismissed, and when

What we do not collect

• • Document content
• • Files stored in Microsoft 365
• • Personal messages or email data

Analytics

Marq events are used to show your administrators which guides are being shown and opened. They identify the site and the Marq, not the person. From version 1.5.0 the extension sends no data to third-party analytics services (see “Extension versions” below). This website uses Google Analytics only if you accept analytics cookies.

Extension versions

Version 1.5.0 is available from the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons and as the manual download on this site. Browsers update extensions automatically, usually within a few days; managed browsers update according to your IT policy. An installation keeps its old behaviour until it updates. You can check the version on your browser’s extensions page.

Installations still on 1.4.1 or earlier differ in three ways:

• • They also send prompt events (shown, opened, dismissed) and a few extension usage events to Google Analytics — the event type, Marq ID and the site’s domain, with a random per-installation ID.
• • They send the full page address (including any query string) of pages where a prompt appeared. Since a server update on 2 October 2026, the prompt-event records WingMarq stores contain only the site’s address, whichever version sent the event; records stored before that update include full page addresses.
• • They keep dismissals in the visited website’s own browser storage, under a name that includes your workspace key. Version 1.5.0 removes those entries the next time a Marq matches a page on that site.
