IT Configuration Guide

What the WingMarq extension does, what it sends, the permissions it needs, and how to deploy it on managed Chrome and Edge.

What WingMarq does

WingMarq is a Chrome and Edge extension. It compares the address of each HTTPS page with the Marqs (URL patterns) your workspace has set up, and where one matches it shows a small prompt with links to your existing guides. It decides from the page address alone and does not read page content, form data, cookies or anything a user types.

Behaviour by version

Chrome and Edge update extensions automatically, usually within a few days; managed browsers follow your policy. An installation behaves as the version it has until it updates. You can see the installed version on the browser’s extensions page.

What it adds to pagesAn empty WingMarq container on HTTPS pages, the prompt where a Marq matches, and a few CSS custom properties on the page's root element. The WingMarq prompt, only where a Marq matches; its styles apply only to that element.

Because the extension has a content script on HTTPS pages, Chrome and Edge show their standard warning that it can read and change data on websites.

WingMarq stores a record of each prompt event per workspace. Since a server update on 2 October 2026, the page address in each new record is only the site’s address (for example https://app.example.com/), whichever extension version sent the event: installations still on 1.4.1 or earlier send the full page address, and the server removes the path and query string before saving the record. Records stored before that update keep the full page addresses they were saved with.

Domains to allow

  • app.wingmarq.com — the extension’s configuration and events, and the admin dashboard.
  • wingmarq.com — this website and documentation (not needed by the extension).
  • Both are HTTPS only.

Deploying on managed browsers

  • Chrome extension ID kicfimmjbjknfegmjcfmbkldkohddnbi, update URL https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx
  • Edge extension ID cbmohaklajfeejcccjiikflaocedhbmj, update URL https://edge.microsoft.com/extensionwebstorebase/v1/crx
  • Use ExtensionInstallForcelist to install automatically or ExtensionInstallAllowlist to let people install it themselves.
  • To require the current version, set minimum_version_required: "1.5.0" for WingMarq in the ExtensionSettings policy.

Each person then connects the extension once by pasting your workspace key in its Options page. The key is shown once when they accept an invite.

Accounts and data storage

Administrators sign in to app.wingmarq.com with Google or an emailed one-time code. People using the extension don’t sign in. Workspace configuration and prompt events are stored in a Supabase project hosted in AWS eu-west-2 (London, United Kingdom). See the privacy policy and security page for details, or contact hello@wingmarq.com.
