Install the Chrome Extension

The WingMarq extension works on Chrome and Edge. Follow these steps to install it manually from a downloaded file. The whole process takes under two minutes.

1

Download the extension

Download the WingMarq extension package. This is a .zip file containing everything Chrome needs to run the extension.

Download wingmarq-extension.zip
2

Unzip the file

Locate the downloaded wingmarq-extension.zip file and unzip it. On Mac, double-click the file. On Windows, right-click and select "Extract All". You should end up with a folder containing files like manifest.json, background.js, and an assets folder.

3

Open Chrome extensions page

Open Chrome (or Edge) and navigate to the extensions page:

chrome://extensions

For Edge, use edge://extensions instead.

4

Enable Developer Mode

In the top-right corner of the extensions page, toggle on Developer mode. This enables the option to load unpacked extensions.

5

Click "Load unpacked"

Click the Load unpacked button that appears in the top-left. In the file picker, select the folder you unzipped in step 2 (the folder containing manifest.json, not the zip file itself).

6

Pin the extension

Click the puzzle piece icon in Chrome's toolbar, find WingMarq: Contextual Guidance, and click the pin icon. The WingMarq icon will now appear in your browser toolbar for quick access.

7

Connect your workspace

Right-click the WingMarq extension icon and select Options, or click the icon and select Manage Workspace.

Enter your workspace key (found in your dashboard settings) and click Save.

Once connected, the extension will automatically fetch your rules and start surfacing guides on matching pages.

Troubleshooting

Extension not loading? Make sure you selected the unzipped folder (not the .zip file). The folder should contain manifest.json at the root.

Guides not appearing? Check that your workspace key is entered correctly in the extension options. Try clicking the WingMarq icon and checking the connection status.

Need to update? Download the latest version, replace the folder contents, then go to chrome://extensions and click the reload icon on the WingMarq extension.
